What Is Direct Primary Care, and How Does Sarova Health Work?

If you have Medicare and you live in Myrtle Beach, Carolina Forest, Market Common, Conway, or anywhere along the Grand Strand, you have likely felt the frustration that comes with traditional primary care. Long waits to get an appointment. Rushed visits that last ten minutes. A phone system that routes you through several options before anyone picks up.

Sarova Health is built differently. It is a direct primary care (DPC) practice, which means you pay a simple monthly membership fee to have Dr. Patel as your personal primary care doctor. No per-visit copays inside the practice. No billing through insurance for your primary care. Just a direct relationship between you and your doctor.

Dr. Patel is capped at 300 members. That small size is intentional. It means Dr. Patel can spend real time with you, return your messages promptly, and know your health history without glancing at a chart for the first five minutes of every visit.

Is Sarova Health a Type of Health Insurance?

No. Sarova Health is not health insurance, and it is important to understand the difference.

Your membership gives you access to primary care services through Dr. Patel. It does not cover hospitalizations, specialist visits, surgeries, emergency care, imaging, or any services performed outside the Sarova practice. For all of that, you need and should keep your Medicare coverage.

Think of Sarova Health as a dedicated layer of primary care that sits alongside Medicare, not instead of it.

Does Joining Sarova Health Mean Giving Up Medicare?

Absolutely not. Your Sarova Health membership does not replace or cancel your Medicare coverage.

Dr. Patel has opted out of Medicare and does not bill Medicare for services provided through your membership. Before joining, you’ll sign a private agreement confirming that neither you nor Sarova Health will submit Sarova Health services to Medicare for reimbursement.

You can continue using Medicare for covered care received outside Sarova Health, subject to your plan’s coverage rules. This may include:

  • Hospital stays and inpatient care

  • Specialist consultations and referrals

  • Surgeries and procedures

  • Emergency room visits and urgent care

  • Imaging such as X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs

  • Covered services and prescriptions outside the Sarova Health practice, subject to your Medicare plan rules

Sarova Health provides your ongoing primary care through membership. Medicare remains available for eligible services outside the practice. They work alongside each other, but your Sarova Health membership is not Medicare insurance or a replacement for it.

What Does a Sarova Health Membership Actually Look Like for Seniors?

For older adults, the differences are noticeable right away.

Longer Visits

Appointments at Sarova are not rushed. Dr. Patel schedules enough time to actually talk through your concerns, review your medications, and answer your questions without watching the clock. If you manage multiple conditions, that time matters.

Easier Access

When something comes up, you can reach Dr. Patel directly by phone or message. You do not wait days for a callback. Same-day and next-day appointments are available for most concerns.

A Doctor Who Knows You

Because Sarova limits its practice to 300 members, Dr. Patel is not managing a patient panel of two thousand people. Dr. Patel knows your health history, your preferences, and what matters to you. That continuity is especially valuable as you get older and your care becomes more complex.

Transparent, Predictable Costs

Your monthly membership fee is straightforward. No surprise bills from the primary care side. No copays each time you walk through the door. For many seniors on a fixed income, that predictability brings real peace of mind.

How Does This Compare to a Traditional Medicare Primary Care Visit?

In a traditional Medicare practice, your doctor may see 20 to 30 patients a day. Appointments are often scheduled in 15-minute blocks, and the pressure to move through patients quickly is real. Doctors in those settings are not cutting corners because they want to. They are working inside a billing system that rewards volume.

Sarova Health is structured to work the other way around. The monthly membership replaces per-visit billing, so there is no financial incentive to rush you out the door. Fewer patients means more time, more attention, and a more personal experience.

For seniors managing diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, heart disease, or other ongoing conditions, that difference in attention can translate directly into better-managed health.

Is Direct Primary Care a Good Fit for Myrtle Beach Seniors?

The Grand Strand has a large and growing population of retirees and older adults. Many have Medicare but feel underserved by primary care practices that are stretched too thin. If you recognize any of the following, Sarova Health may be worth a conversation:

  • You struggle to get timely appointments with your current doctor

  • Your visits feel too short to cover everything on your list

  • You want a doctor you can actually reach when something comes up

  • You are managing more than one chronic condition and need coordinated, consistent care

  • You recently moved to the Myrtle Beach area and are looking for a new primary care doctor

Sarova Health serves patients in Myrtle Beach, Carolina Forest, Market Common, Conway, and throughout the surrounding Grand Strand communities.

A Few Practical Things to Know Before Joining

Joining Sarova Health does not replace your Medicare coverage. You should keep Medicare for hospital care, specialists, emergency care, testing, imaging, prescriptions, and other covered services outside the practice.

Before joining, you’ll sign a simple agreement confirming that Dr. Patel will not bill Medicare for care provided through Sarova Health. Your monthly membership pays for that care directly, so neither you nor Sarova Health will submit those services to Medicare for reimbursement.

If you have questions about your Medicare plan, your insurance plan, a licensed Medicare adviser, or your local State Health Insurance Assistance Program can help. We’re always happy to explain what your Sarova Health membership includes.

To give every patient the time and attention they deserve, Dr. Patel limits his practice to 300 members. Once the practice is full, new patients will be placed on a waitlist.
